Job Hunter's Tip of the Week #9 - I have been job-hunting forever and no one is hiring me!! I am just going to give up!
Staying motivated during your job search is tough, especially if you have been looking for quite a while. It is easy to get that defeated feeling, and to start spending less and less time searching for work. So how do you stay on track? Start with setting a routine for yourself. Set your alarm clock to get up early; don’t lounge in bed all day. Take some time to clear your mind and think positive thoughts about finding employment. Set daily job search goals. Make sure they are productive ones and write them down! People tend to stick to goals more when they are written somewhere. Connect with others who are in the same situation. Share ideas and leads, and don’t forget to encourage each other. And finally, stay positive in your thoughts and words. When we start to get discouraged, it is easy for our thoughts and words to become negative. Keep telling yourself how great your new job is going to be, and that it could be around the next corner. After all, it truly could be!
